If you will or could be in the Bay Area the second week of November, I invite you to sign up for a day-long conference, The Brave New World of Entry-Level Recruiting, which we have put together. It’s actually “back by popular demand,” in that we held a predecessor event here in New York this past January, which was so oversubscribed the organizer first had to reserve a larger room and then shut down registration when that room reached capacity.

I think you’d agree it’s an extremely distinguished group, and we’re deeply pleased each of these individuals will be participating.
I will kick off the conference with a quick overview presentation about how law student recruiting has changed since the Great Recession, and I’ll moderate the entire day.
Then we’ll have:
- Jim Leipold deliver the keynote
- Prof. Bill Henderson follow with one of his characteristically data-rich presentations
- The three firm hiring partners will discuss their perspective on the last panel of the morning
- Following lunch the three law school career services deans will talk about schools’ perspective
- Prof. Paul Campos will discuss whether newly vocal critics of the value of a law degree have a point, and the implications if they do
- And the day will conclude with a “View from the Top” panel including Frank Wu, who is instituting bold new strategic initiatives at UC/Hastings.

This promises to be a day full of very rich content, delivered by some real pro’s in this area. As one of the New York attendees reported, “in one day I learned more than I learn during the rest of the year.”
