As I hope many of you saw, we held a launch party for Growth Is Dead: Now What? here in New York about ten days ago, and some photos are now back.
Our generous friends at Above the Law hosted the event, which was held at the NoMad Hotel on Broadway at 28th Street.
We’re delighted to report that nearly 100 people attended, and we may (no promises…) reprise the event in other cities.
So, a few quick pix from the evening. Yes, it was among other things a book signing.
We were flattered to have a number of high-profile folks in attendance, including Peter Kalis, Chairman and Global Managing Partner of K&L Gates (left) and Hugh Verrier, Chairman of White & Case.
Ralph Baxter, Chairman & CEO of Orrick was also there, as was Sean Weir, National Managing Partner of Borden Ladner Gervais.
Pete Kalis offered some words of introduction to yours truly and helped put Growth Is Dead into historic context in terms of the industry, the profession, and even the tradition of law and economics.
I followed with some brief observations on how Growth Is Dead has been received so far in the marketplace of ideas – which has been extremely gratifying.
I’m not sure from this whether Pete’s remarks were better received than mine, or vice versa, but clearly one or both of us sparked some feedback from the crowd.
And, we can only hope, a good time was had by all.
If we have the opportunity to do it again, you’ll be the first to know. Watch this space.
