How to get more out of firm retreats, meetings, and conferences
The costs of putting together and attending law firm retreats and industry conferences, both in time and financial outlays, can be considerable. We’ve worked with dozens of firms and other organizations to help ensure that the outcomes are more than commensurate with the investment.
Though often held in lovely locations, retreats are far from junkets these days; they serve a firm’s hard-core business needs and goals. As such, it’s imperative to provide targeted, audience-focused insights and inspiration, while encouraging participants to meaningfully engage on key issues facing each firm.
We have found that directed programs are very productive, generating robust, practical take-aways for participants.
At Adam Smith, Esq., we are big fans of increasing interactivity and engagement at meetings like these, delivering thought-provoking presentations with content-rich insights, moderating breakout sessions, leading panel discussions or facilitating workshops. We also have a great deal of experience recruiting highly-credentialed panelists, representing alternative viewpoints on key issues.
We work closely with firm management or the retreat committee to ensure that our contributions and focus are aligned with the specific needs or issues of each firm. We can also provide a post-retreat report that captures any learning or impressions we gained while at the retreat. Often, we hear things that management may not have.
