Our Team

We believe that the most sophisticated issues require experienced, senior advisors who’ve been around Boardrooms worldwide. That’s why when you work with Adam Smith, Esq., you deal exclusively with our principals.

We have remained small and independent by choice, to be able to provide the highest-level, unbiased advice to our clients without the distraction of internal bureaucracy.  We have been similarly judicious in terms of the client-facing individuals we bring on. We insist on impeccable credentials, proven experience, creativity, curiosity, boardroom presence – and being really, really good people.

We limit the number of firms we work with at any one time to ensure top-notch service (as a result, we’ve had to turn good business away, which allows us to provide impeccable, thoughtful advice). Further, we have no junior consultants (which, frankly, strikes us as an oxymoron). Though we have talented colleagues working with us all client-facing activities will be handled by Bruce and Janet.  We will never turn you over to a junior associate.

Bruce MacEwen / President

Since the company’s launch in late 2002, nearly 2,000 articles have appeared on “Adam Smith, Esq.” covering such topics as strategy, leadership, globalization, M&A, finance, compensation, cultural considerations, and partnership structures.

Janet Stanton is an accomplished business executive who brings her experience from diverse industries and professional service organizations to bear on the business and strategic issues facing law firms in the 21st Century.
