Last week I published a column asking you to weigh in on how reliable you believe the AmLaw numbers to be – and your firm’s degree of participation in the survey. (Firms that aren’t AmLaw reporting firms can simply record that fact as their answer.)

Our reasons for doing this are utterly straightforward:

  • The AmLaw rankings are the Fortune 500 of Law Land: The #1 listing of record.  They matter.
  • While there have been complaints and criticisms over the years of their sourcing and accuracy, no one has ever simply asked AmLaw firms in a systematic way about their level of participation; as I said last week, “We think it’s time to take a look.”
  • Finally, The American Lawyer itself is admirably on record as being strongly in favor of transparency; we couldn’t agree more.

Now, to today:  Suffice to say the preliminary results of the survey are most intriguing (yes, I peeked).  But as I noted in that column, “We can’t do this alone; we need your help.”  That’s why I’m taking the unprecedented step of reproducing the survey poll right here, rather than asking you to click through to take it.

Here you go:
